Hi all,

     I’ve only got time for a quick report on happenings over the past couple of weeks, as I’m busy not only catching up from that but for getting ready for the Month O’ Conventions more commonly known as August.  But as usual, the happenings have been valuable ones:

1. Readercon was a great time–some of the best fun I’ve had at the conference since I started attending it six years ago.  Part of that was due to the great panels, both the ones I was on (“Architects and Gardeners” on Saturday, “Workshopping as a Lifestyle” on Sunday, along with a reading on Friday) and the ones I attended–but part of it was definitely the people.  I got the chance to hang out with friends and fellow authors E.C. Myers and Mike Underwood, and met Wesley Chu for the first time–and even better, my family was with me this time, and we got to spend time after Readercon with friends in the area.  Kudos to the organizers for having our schedules ready well ahead of time, and having everything run smoothly despite hotel renovations–and kudos to the attendees for more great questions and thoughtful discussion, too.  (By the way, I’ll have a recording of one of the panels I did up on my Media page in the next week or so.)

2.  While I was at Readercon, the Kickstarter for Time Traveled Tales wrapped up–and holy cow, what a Kickstarter it was.  The original goal of $7500 was shattered en route to the final tally of $28,431–which, quite frankly, blew all of us away.  It did so well that we think it will have ramifications beyond the original project, and I hope to be able to talk more about that in the near future.  In the meantime, thanks so much if you backed the project, and if you didn’t get the chance, make sure to come see me at a future conference or convention and pick up a copy if you’re interested!

3. Speaking of future conventions, I’ve got two on the horizon: Gen Con in Indianapolis in a couple of weeks, and Worldcon in San Antonio at the end of the month.  If you’re in the vicinity of either one, make sure to stop by and say hello!  In the meantime, I’ll be working on writing and revising, as well as some work on Speculate…as always, busy but not bored.  I’ll be back with an update after Gen Con–until then, thanks as always for stopping by, and talk to you all soon!
